How to Navigate This Hub
Not sure where to begin? Whether you prefer reading, listening, or learning by doing, this hub gives you multiple ways to explore — from books and courses to glossary terms and deeper dives still to come.
Books That Build Your Foundation
Our growing book series, Skincare Literacy, is designed to do exactly what the name promises: give you the knowledge to think clearly about your skin. No miracle claims. No product pushing. Just frameworks, facts, and real-world guidance you can actually use.
The first volume, Skin Types Decoded, helps you understand what your skin is doing — and why. You’ll learn to move beyond labels like “dry” or “oily,” and start recognizing patterns in hydration, oil production, sensitivity, and barrier shifts. It’s not about fitting into a category — it’s about learning to observe and respond.
Want a preview?
Future volumes will dive into skin aging, barrier science, photodamage, ingredient libraries and global formulation strategies. Each book stands alone — but together, they build a comprehensive learning path.
Courses That Clarify and Empower
If you prefer visually structured, step-by-step learning, the Skincare Literacy courses are for you. They’re designed for self-paced progress and real-life application — no jargon, no overwhelm.
There will be a flagship course connected to each book in the book series, which will explain the ideas in the book visually, so you can read, watch, or apply depending on how you learn best.
- The introductory Udemy course covers the basics of skin types, structure, and product logic in just a few hours.
- The upcoming flagship course goes deeper: zone-based analysis, ingredient fluency, and care strategies that flex with your skin’s needs.
- Mini-courses will follow, each focused on a specific skin type — so you can go narrow when you need to.
Curious where to start?
The Glossary: Hundreds of Terms to Demystify the Skincare World
Ever read a product label and felt like you needed a degree in chemistry to make sense of it? That’s where the Glossary comes in.
With nearly 300 entries — and counting — this evolving glossary helps you cut through the confusion. You’ll find:
- Ingredient names (from niacinamide to azelaic acid)
- Function tags (humectant, exfoliant, stabilizer)
- Format definitions (emulsion, essence, balm, serum)
- Skin behavior terms (TEWL, photodamage, inflammation)
Each entry includes not just a definition, but also context: what it means for your skin, how it interacts with other ingredients, and when to look for (or avoid) it.
New terms are added regularly based on reader questions, course updates, and emerging research.
Podcast: Real Talk, Real Skin
Coming soon — the Skincare Literacy Podcast will bring the book to life through short episodes that decode one topic at a time. Expect myth-busting, ingredient explainers, and practical episodes on how to adjust your care when life shifts.
Some topics in the first season:
- Why “normal skin” isn’t boring — and what makes it unique
- Comparing dry and dehydrated skin, and why skin’s barrier function needs to be supported at all times.
- The difference between reactivity and sensitivity (and why it matters)
- Why exfoliation isn’t a weekly task — it’s a tailored decision
Until then, stay tuned via the newsletter or book page.
All podcast episodes will be cross-linked with glossary terms, book chapters, and relevant course sessions, so your learning stays connected.
